When I was 11, my nan noticed a small patch of dry skin behind my ear. Before we knew it, another patch appeared on my chest. I became extremely self-conscious as friends started asking what it was. I didn’t know how to explain it, so instead I tried to hide it. I covered myself up as much as possible with scarves, jeans and layers, even during the summer, embarrassed and anxious that someone else might notice.

Over time, the patches continued to spread across my body. I spent years going back and forth to doctors, trying steroid creams and antibiotics, even attending hospital treatments three times a week. Nothing worked. It didn’t just affect my skin; I gradually lost my confidence which ruined most of my teenage years, affecting my self-worth and the way in which I saw myself.

I began to look deeper into my own health and lifestyle. I started to realise that most of the products prescribed to me, alongside my diet, were actually causing more harm than good. This led to further health issues and increasingly inflamed skin. I began researching and testing different products and monitoring my diet, learning what worked for my body and what made things worse.

This is what changed everything. As my understanding grew, so did my desire to help others who were struggling in the same way that I had for so many years. I wanted to share my story with like-minded people. This is what led me to create Glow Rebellion out of a personal need to help create products that are safe for the whole family, regardless of age and gender. Confidence really does start with care! Our skin is our largest organ, and it deserves to be treated with care, kindness, and ingredients that can be trusted without additives, preservatives, sulphates, or parabens.
